Wines
Over 2,000 years ago, Theodosius of Bithynia produced Sphaerics, his foundational treatise on spherical geometry. Building upon the achievements of great minds that preceded him, his work remains a reference text for mathematicians and astronomers.
Today at Sphaerics, we draw inspiration from classic winemaking techniques in pursuit of crafting wines that will serve as a reference point for excellence in our generation.
“if and only if” Upper Barn Vineyard Chardonnay
When we were offered incredible access to Chardonnay from the legendary Upper Barn Vineyard, we couldn’t say yes fast enough. Sourced from 40-year-old vines planted to a distinctive Wente clone 1800 feet above Alexander Valley, the “if and only if” Chardonnay is a seamless expression of this spectacular site captured through adherence to classical winemaking techniques.
"on days and nights" Chardonnay
Nestled in the foothills of the northern Russian River Valley, these vines are planted on a steep, sun-drenched slope. With thin, rocky soils and a warmer microclimate within this famously cool region, this site produces a wine boasting streaks of minerality in harmony with ample texture and concentration.
"overline" Chardonnay
Our coolest site thrives in the clay loam soils of this distinctive region, influenced by the morning fog and gentle breezes of the San Pablo Bay. The unique climate combined with some of our favorite clonal selections yields complex wines of depth and verve.
